Having slightly changed the stringlength, it is very suitable as a large G violone. Still it is possible with the right strings to play the instrument in D.

the original instrument is part of the Dolmetsch collection which can be seen
in the Horniman Museum in London. 


  -ABOUT GIOVANNI PAOLO MAGGINI-
Born at Botticino near Brescia in 1580. He was an apprentice of Gasparo da Salò. He work his whole life in Brescia, and died there of the plague in 1630.
