-In General-
Here you will find how to order and buy an instrument and
what else
is involved. And of course you will find the business terms here.
-Ordering an Instrument-
First, a model has to be chosen.
After choosing the right model, the woods we are going to
use, and all the other things that make an instrument personal, the delivery or
collecting method, delivery time, payment and downpayment
etc.
etc. have to be discussed.
-Waiting-list-
The waiting list at this moment (april 2008) has increased to 8 to 10
months. But as I already explained on the home-page and in
the
available instruments’ section, I always have gaps in order
to
experiment, to do research, and to be able to deliver to those who get
a little restless when they have to wait too long. So always ask if
there is a possibility to get your instrument quickly. And as I said, I
do have instruments ready for immediate purchase from time to time.
See -available
instruments for sale now-
if that's the case. In the future I hope to extend this service, as
more and more musicians first want to see their instrument of choice
before buying it.
-Cases-
It is possible, and when the instrument has to be shipped, even
necessary to purchase a case. These cases are all specially made for
the instrument,
and have to be ordered together with it (for large 6 string and all 7
string bass viols cello cases also can be used). Ask for prices.
-Downpayment-
I ask a small downpayment of 10% of the total order, to be paid
immediately after signing the contract. After receiving the downpayment
the order is made effective. If extensive decorations are asked for,
the surplus price has to be paid in advance. The same is true for
carved heads. These downpayments are not refundable, unless there is a
delivery problem on my side.
-Payment-
The other 90% has to be paid on delivery in cash or transferred in
advance when shipped. The best and cheapest way to do this is from bank
to bank using the IBAN/SWIFT system.
-Delivery and collecting
When the instrument is finished there are 4 ways of delivering or
collecting.
1. Collecting from the workshop in Vries.
This is the nicest
way, but sometimes difficult to do because of the
geographical
distances, but I am always happy when it works out this
way.
2. Collecting from our stand during one of the exhibitions.
This is a little bit
troublesome, but it works.
3. Collecting somewhere "along the road".
Because we are often
on our way through Europe, there is always the
possibility to
meet somewhere.
4. Shipping with couriers (for example FEDEX or TNT).
All import duties,
handling, delivery, storage and freight charges are
payable by the
customer. It is necessary to buy a case together
with the instrument,
wich will then be put in a flight-case (also to be
paid by the
customer) and
covered with airbubbles plastic.
Experience has
taught me that the total cost of instrument, cases and
shipping to for
example the east coast of the USA or to Japan is more
or less comparable
to the 19% VAT/BTW/MwSt. which has to be paid
by EU-citizens. Of
course there are always exceptions, so ask in time,
to prevent
disappointments. Immediately after receiving the payment,
he instrument will be shipped.
-Contract of sale-
Once we have discussed all these matters, we sign a little
contract because it is nice for both of us to have something to fall
back upon.
-Buying an instrument-
When you purchase an available instrument, there is of course no
waiting list, and no downpayment will be asked.
The whole sum has to be paid in cash on delivery, or by bank in advance.
