  -THE ORIGINAL-
The original instrument, dated 1745, is part of the collection of the "Bayerisches National Museum" in München, Germany.They gave me the upportunity to measure and study it.

  -ABOUT Joann Andreas Kämbl-
Born in 1699. In 1738 he was appointed "Münchener Hoflautenmacher."
He worked there till his death on the first of april in 1781 in München.


  -ABOUT THE PICTURES-
The thumbnails on this page which can be enlarged by clicking on them, show you an example of  the Kämbl model.  The name of the set of  thumbnails is the family-name of the first owner of that particular viol.

  -WOODS USED ON THE SHOWN EXAMPLES-
Back: "quilted maple" in combination with ebony and  European Maple. the fingerboard and tailpiece are veneered with bocote with an inlay of
ebony, and maple sides. There is used maple and ebbony for the tailpieceholder. The pegs.  are in boxwood.
