-THE ORIGINAL-
The original instrument,
dated 1634, is in private ownership
of Mr.
Sigiswald Kuijken. Reinhard Ossenbrunner had already measured it when I
came to
work for him. I made several instruments in his workshop. He gave me
permission
to use his data further in my own workshop
-ABOUT PIERRE
PREVOST-
The first time the name Pierre Prevost is mentioned, is 1-2-1607.
He then started to work for Antoine Despont in Paris at "Rue des
Arcis". In 1615 he rented together with his companion Nicolas Houdot a
house and workshop also in Paris. In 1618 his son Antoine was baptised.
Godfather was
Antoine Despont. He then already lives again at "Rue des Arcis".
After 1635 his name is often be seen in apprenticeship-contracts. On 27-12-1638
we hear from him for the last time. Still living in the Rue des Arcis,
he makes his son Jaques Rene Voboam's apprentice.

-WOODS USED ON
THE SHOWN EXAMPLES-
Back and sides: "quilted maple". the fingerboard and tailpiece
are veneered with ebony with an
inlay of maple, and ebony sides. There is used a maple
tailpieceholder in combination with boxwood pegs with black pips and
rings.
